MANCHESTER: Miners Community Arts and Music Centre

FRI 10TH APR, 2015 8.00pm

*To be performed in Moston Small Cinema*

A highly original concept in modern drama by Liverpool's radical touring company, Meet the Real Maggie Thatcher provides an engaging insight into one of the most notorious political leaders of our era.

Various emotive topics such as the Miner's Strike, Poll Tax, Clause 28 and the Falklands crisis are featured in the drama from very personal perspectives. The performance contains no strong language... only the truth.

Although controversial in content there is no form of 'grave stamping' exercise as the intention is to provoke personal opinion by engagement.

Award winning writer Mike Francis Carvalho is most recently renowned for 80′s themed drama Vienna and the controversial 2011 Edinburgh Fringe production "Breathe in". The production gained critical acclaim on a nationwide development tour during 2014 and to date has received both UK national and regional award nominations. A 15 minute BBC documentary was made on the production and broadcast last September.

Due to the nature of the piece there have been very popular after show question and answer session with cast and writer at all performances.

Meet the Real Maggie Thatcher is directed by the legendary 'illy' formerly of BBC, Granada and Mersey Television.

Q&A session after the performance.
