Jon Budworth

WIGAN: Parish Church

FRI 4TH MAR, 2016 7:00pm

A 5 piece band from the West of England who might justify being called a roots music super group. Members of the band played in such notable groups as Meet on The Ledge, Colvin Quarmby , and ( currently) TradARR amongst others.
Their debut album " Daisy Roots" gained considerable acclaim and has been on radio playlists in 36 countries. They are well renowned for their multi instrumental and multi talented personnel. Ashley Hutchings commented that Marion Fleetwood has one of the very best voices in roots music ( and he should know). Her fiddle playing is held in similar regards by many.. All other band members contribute harmonies and sometimes lead vocals to the mix. Matin Fitzgibbon ( drums/percussion) also adds some fine vocals.. Mark Cole swaps from squeeze box to mandolin and Lyndon Webb shifts between standup bass and acoustic guitar.. Rick Edwards ties the whole thing together with viruoso slide guitar. The whole band explore the full range of roots music going seamlessly from folk to rock to country and points in between. We think they are very good and like them a lot ( and hope you do to )
The evening will be opened by respected local folk singer Jon Budworth
