Long, mellifluous, melodic lines; slow builds to satisfying climaxes; sweetly contemplative musings interspersed with sudden bursts of percussive energy: the music played by the Tassos Spiliotopoulos Quartet ...beguiling and powerful; Spiliotopoulos is a talent to watch out for.
Chris Parker, The Times
Greek guitarist, Tassos Spiliotopoulos has been making waves in London since his arrival in the early part of this millenium. This year, he released a debut album 'Wait for Dusk' with this band which has been very well received, Cadence magazine in New York described it as 'well balanced and arranged so that it really sounds like a group effort instead of just soloist and rhythm section'. Critics have likened his work to New York's Kurt Rosenwinkel or John Abercrombie and these contemporary influences are audible, but Tassos is much more than a clone. His writing and playing display a depth and vigour that is very individual. With Gilad Atzmon's powerhouse rhythm section of Asaf Sirkis and Yaron Stavi, Tassos has found the perfect foil for his inventive guitar playing.
A great band.
