Blakfish's Stolen Gear Fundraiser
Our hard-rocking dudes from Brum unfortunately got their gear stolen, so some great bands have got toegther to help raise some cash so that Blakfish can continue to make noise!

in no particular order:

BLAKFISH (Birmingham)
Having had an awesome 2008, which saw mini-album 'See You In Another City' garner much critical acclaim, the poor Brummies had all their gear nicked out of the back of their car following - ironically - a charity gig in Nottingham. Having recently booked a month in a studio in Seattle to work with one of the best producers in the business, cancelling is not an option. We're all clubbing together to help.
Oh, and they're a bit good live - see www.beatcasttv.com for proof.

BRONTIDE
Out of the ashes of I Was A Cub Scout came two bands, one sounded very similar to IWACS and the other - Brontide - went off in a more prog-related, Russian Circles-esque direction. They haven't played many shows yet but they continue to improve at an alarming rate.

COLOUR
Kingston's favourite sons (along with Tubelord), Colour are pushing the math-pop scene like no other band before them, winning fans all over the shop. Their immediate yet intricate stylings have seen them play alongside Blakfish on many an occasion over the last year.

JOSE VANDERS
Jose (not pronounced 'ho-say') has been compared to Kate Nash - I find this a little unfair and a bit lazy, because Jose can a) actually sing, b) actually play the piano properly, c) write great lyrics. Her debut EP, Red Black Blue & The Tortoise is full of heartwarming, massive pop hits.

MY FIRST TOOTH
Although Ross Witt has been having quite some trouble with his voice lately, when he's on form, MFT play icy folk music that has the power to silence rooms and warm the heart while doing so. Cohort Sophie Galpin makes this even more interesting, accompanying Ross with an array of instruments from violin to bazouki.

SCHOLARS
Hailing from Hemel Hempstead, Scholars have been getting out and about a fair amount recently and have started making waves in the UK post-hardcore scene. Not too dissimilar from UK heroes Hundred Reasons or Idlewild, fans of bands like Tellison will also love this four-piece.

TAPETHERADIO
This powerful three-piece have recently toured with Athlete and while that might put some of you off, their Cure-inspired pop-rock has quite a bite to it. Their debut EP recently sold out in Rough Trade London and their future looks bright.
