Monica Vasconcelos is probably the UK’s most skilled performer of Brazilian song, as recognised by her inclusion in the Guardian’s list of ‘1,000 Albums to Hear Before You Die’. Her new band ‘Hih’ plays an intriguing mix of Brazilian music and jazz, mostly jaunty and joyous, but occasionally laced with languorous melancholy. Featuring Steve Lodder (piano/keyboards), Dudley Phillips (bass) and Adriano Adewale (perc).
