This night is a collaborative project between Continental Drifts, renowned for progressive and cutting edge scheduling at the top music festivals in the UK; The Magpie's Nest Folk Club - whose mantra New Folk, Old Folk, No Folk attracts a diverse young audience in to appreciate traditional music of the British isles and beyond, far from the stuffy bearded images of bygone times, and riding the waves of the present renaissance and interest in Folk Music; The Crow Club – the original Shoreditch folk club pioneered by performer/promoter Katy Carr and Lastly, Cut A Shine – the Anarchic Barn Dance crew with a track record of producing rip roaring dance events across London.

The Magpie's Nest has partnered with Continental Drifts to deliver the Global Local programme – an Arts Council funded project to support and showcase emerging bands and artists at UK festivals.

The Acts:

The Long Notes: Described by the Scotsman in a five-star review as ‘truly something else’, The Long Notes unite the revered talents of accordionist Colette O’Leary, fiddler Jamie Smith and banjo and mandolin player Brian Kelly. All three musicians have a wealth of touring experience and came together as a group through north London’s ever-vibrant folk scene.

Cut A Shine: post ridiculous tour of summer season madness, clocking up performances at over 20 festivals and countless private events, Cut A Shine are bringing the barn dance mayhem to the masses!

Katy Carr and The Aviators: With a tour planned for 2009, Katy here showcases material from her soon to be released third album featuring her new band The Aviators.

Plaster of Paris: a London based duo, performing self penned songs song with unique folk stylings - fresh and innovative underground talent from East London. Consisting of Molly on Vocals and the Kazoomaphone, backed by Lewis on either guitar, Ukulele of a host of other strung instruments.
