Ruth Theodore is the rarest of talents. Few writers produce such natural turn of phrase within wholly considered and often cryptic lyrical passages. Even fewer have weaved these words into brilliant songs, often beautiful yet sometimes abrasive. Fewer still deliver this with such musical attention to detail, with a voice of perfect honesty and vibrant attitude, whilst skilfully playing guitar like a defiant child breaking the rules.
Her words will dominate your short term memory, rattling around until you follow the clues to unravel the mystery. Her voice will persuade you to consider every last piece of sentiment. And her abundant musical nature will redefine your expectations of contemporary folk songwriters.
Shuffling onto stage, possessing all the grace of a raggle-taggle-gypsy and the dress sense of a patchwork quilt, Ruth Theodore will make you laugh, think, and probably insult you plenty too.
PLEASE NOTE: the venue comprises both seated and standing space. There are a limited number of tables. These are allocated on a first come first served basis, with priority given to diners. If you’d like a table, please ensure you arrive early (doors open 7pm).
Music starts at 9pm. NO ENTRY AFTER 9.30pm.
