Hailing from Manchester but now all but one based in Los Angeles, Proud Mary are a five-piece based around a nucleus of Paul Newsome(guitar)and Greg Griffin(vocals). Re their name nods to Fogerty et al might be noted on occasions but, if anything, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Faces and a ''Sticky Fingers''-era Rolling Stones are more significant benchmarks. Proud Mary wear their rock ''n'' roll hearts on their sleeves but, crucially, they also capture the spirit of their contemporaries.
Debut album ''The Same Old Blues'' is instantly addictive and features nine songs and thirty nine minutes of unashamedly-heartfelt rock ''n'' roll bliss. Recorded at Wheeler End Studios. It was produced by Noel Gallagher and was first release on Gallagher''s own Sour Mash record label.
PROUD MARY have played live to over a million people at shows including their own headline gigs, festival gigs at DONINGTON,ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL, READING+LEEDS FESTIVAL, T IN THE PARK and sole support slots with OASIS,NEIL YOUNG,WELLER, STEREOPHONICS, RYAN ADAMS, OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, BLACK CROWES and more
