THE LINES:
Hailing from Wolverhampton, The Lines are a group of dedicated individuals with big ambition. Whilst comparisons have been made to many of the great bands of the past, most notably the sonic guitar histrionics of The Verve, the band stand alone. And it's with this single-minded belief, coupled with an explosive live sound and a setlist of songs with timeless melodies, that it is surely only a matter of time before this band becomes a household name.
Domino Effect’, was the debut single from the four-piece on Weekender records, it combined the soaring heartfelt vocals of lead singer Alex Ohms with Dean Bate’s punch-the-air guitar melodies.
The driving rhythm section of Chris Titley on bass and Dave O'Connor on drums provides a rigid backbone to their well-crafted songs.
Invitations to support fellow Midlanders the Twang and Editors came rolling in thick and fast. These were then followed by unforgettable gigs with Jack Penate, the Holloways, Little Man Tate, the Maccabees, Babyshambles, Supergrass and The Charlatans.
Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin
"There aren't really many good bands coming out of wolverhampton, just one great band called the Lines"
Denzil Watson - BBC Raw Talent
"With the band chemistry of The Libertines and the grove of The Stone Roses, the future looks bright for this Wolverhampton four-piece"
Support:
THE FOXES:
"Cunningly fast indie rock'n'roll." NME
"An awesome set." Red Stripe Music Awards
"Set to be a chart hit." The Sun
Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP in late 2007 The Foxes hit the road with Yeti for a 30 date UK Tour in early 2008. Following a year of almost constant touring encompassing the UK, Germany, and the Czech Republic, the band released their debut single "Trauma Town" in October 2008 on 7" vinyl and download which entered the UK Indie Charts at No.9. Their second single, "Bill Hicks", was released on CD, Download and limited edition 7" Vinyl on March 16th 2009, and reached no.6 in the UK Indie Singles Chart. The brand new single "Lover, Killer" is set for release on 3rd August.
SKINNY WHITE AND THE GOODS:
Fellow Midlanders Skinny White & The Goods are more self proclaimed country bumpkins, as their home town, Oswestry, borders Wales. Its more ‘Ooow Arrrrr’ than ‘yam yam yam’ & ‘Bostin’. This is a running joke between The Lines & Skinny White, having played together in their respective towns, as well as having a messy night with Howard Marks when the 3 worked up a sweaty Oswestry’s Substance night.
Skinny White & The Goods were recently formed as early as June 2009, their back story is that they’re made up of members of Lady Muck & Mitsu’s Run, who you may be familiar with, gigging Manchester, Liverpool & Leeds, with the odd London one thrown in, Oxjam, Red Stripe awards, and support with Zane Lowes home boys The Checks.
Lets move on, and that’s what Ben Turner is doing, described as being “reminiscent of Elliot Smith & Jeff Buckley”, and with his vocals as being “particularly & deceptively remarkable” (Ents24.com). But he’s not stupid and knows when he’s got something, whether he’s got a song or a sound.
The fusion of the two previous bands keeps the raw edged, original, solid, indie jazz/alternative blues sound- a sound that can’t be pigeon holed. See and hear the band as the audience buzz is the pay back.
