Drifter Promotions Presents ....

One of only five UK shows,(No London date) It is with great delight we invite Diana to play for us here in Brighton.

Diana Jones had released two finely crafted albums in the 1990s, but it wasn't until she released My Remembrance of You in 2006 that she found her own voice. She had discovered a connection, both biological and artistic, to the sounds of old-time Appalachia, unleashing her private muse and creating a critically acclaimed record.

The three years since that breakthrough have been a whirlwind. Diana has landed the opening slot on high-profile European tours with Richard Thompson and Mary Gauthier and has been the featured invitee at folk festivals in the US, the UK and Ireland.

One of her songs, "Henry Russell's Last Words", has been recorded by Joan Baez, while another, "If I Had a Gun," has been recorded by Gretchen Peters. Diana's own versions of those songs can be heard on her album, Better Times Will Come, an ambitious effort that consolidates and extends the leap forward of the preceding record.

Diana sings of the hard times, murderous urges and chilling loneliness that haunt the old Anglo-Celtic ballads but, with one exception, sets her plain-spoken narratives resolutely in the present

Diana Jones had released two finely crafted albums in the 1990s, but it wasn't until she released "My Remembrance of You" in 2006 that she found her own voice and broke out of the singer-songwriter pack to emerge as a major figure in Americana music. She had discovered a connection, both biological and artistic, to the sounds of old-time Appalachia, unleashing her private muse and creating a record that landed on best-of-the-year lists in the Chicago Tribune and the Nashville Scene.

The three years since that breakthrough have been a whirlwind. Diana has landed the opening slot on high-profile European tours with Richard Thompson and Mary Gauthier and has been the featured invitee at folk festivals in Ireland, England, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. One of her songs, "Henry Russell's Last Words", has been recorded by Joan Baez, while another, "If I Had a Gun", has been recorded by Gretchen Peters.

DANNI NICHOLLS

Brighton's hardest working sweetheart of the rodeo has been writing and recording original music for nine years. She moved to the city three years ago from Bedfordshire and has been wooing audiences with her original Americana/alt-country ever since.

Pulling on musical references from Johnny, Elvis, Chuck & Dolly to Gillian Welch; Carole King to Chatham County Line, Danni has been invited to support acts as diverse as Angus & Julia Stone, Sinead & The Dawnbreakers, Paul Curreri, Kate Walsh and most recently Otis Gibbs, Eileen Rose and Nell Bryden. She also occasionally plays with London's mighty Green Rock River Band and Brighton's The Crucks.
