For this bank holiday special we welcome a rare intimate appearance from a band who have been making serious waves stateside The Whigs! Supporting we have the usual mix of buzz bands with a performance from Civil Civic and Cold In Berlin. On top of this we'll off course be setting up the decks stage side and have DJs spin an eclectic BLP mix of everything from abrasive indie and beats to motown and electronica. As usual here we'll stay open as long as can stay on your feet, should be a corker!

U.S. garage rock sensations The Whigs (from Athens, GA) have been wowing audiences across the U.S for some time now, releasing a string of enthralling singles and picking up high profile fans including Kings of Leon along the way - who cherry picked the band to tour alongside them both in their native U.S and abroad. They've recently played the prestigious The Late Show with David Letterman (twice), been critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone magazine, and are signed to the impressive U.S. indie label ATO Records, home to Radiohead, My Morning Jacket among others.

Despite many regarding them as one of the most exciting bands on the scene today, they've played relatively few shows in Europe. Now, with their latest release 'In The Dark' we're thrilled that they're coming over to the UK for a rare, intimate appearance at Best Laid Plans ahead of their main stage slot with Kings of Leon in Hyde Park.

When Civil Civic unleashed their début single 'Less Unless' in the early months of 2010, it triggered a tsunami that swept the blogoshpere. Mixing jaggedly progressive post-punk guitar, jamming melodic fuzz bass and pummelling drum machine beats, delivered in a no-frills lo-fi-pop package, this Australian instrumental duo (via London and Barcelona) have tapped their own original sound... original enough to leave reviewers short of any comparisons, and resorting to getting really excited and saying stuff like:
