The world class vocals of internationally lauded Chris While and the uncannily similar quality of daughter Kellie, combine for an evening of unforgettable live music. Their pleasure in singing together is obvious and when they duet, their voices blend so beautifully that it’s easy to lose sight of who is who!

Chris, one of the finest singers on the acoustic circuit, is well known as a solo performer and as occasional lead vocalist with Fairport Convention. She tours the world to widespread acclaim with Julie Matthews, with whom she won a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award in 2009.

Kellie is an accomplished singer and guitarist and is much in demand from the likes of Eddi Reader, Fairport Convention, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Martin Simpson as a guest vocalist. She’s one of the most natural and intuitive singers around and this is a rare chance to see her perform live as part of a duo.

Bright Phoebus are delighted to announce that the EFDSS are as excited about our nights as we are and have kindly enabled us to bring more breakthrough performers to the forefront with our new Folk Rising showcase spots.

This month we are very proud to present our own Fay Hield who launches her debut CD, “Looking Glass” tonight. Fay is a compelling singer and performer who captivates an audience with her repertoire of traditional ballads and songs and who is the first new signing to Topic Records in over a decade.

Our second Folk Rising showcase spot comes from Sam Carter. A wonderful guitarist and songwriter who won the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards earlier this year, we are really pleased that Sam will be with us tonight. No stranger to Sheffield after studying with Martin Simpson over the years, he’s a welcome addition to our stellar night.

All this and The Boardwalk All Stars too! Jon Boden & Martin Simpson host the night with a band of local musical luminaries – who will turn up tonight we wonder ….? Come and find out!

As ever, there will also be morris dancing spots and a session at the end of the night, so bring your instrument long and join in.
