Event information
Naturally we are returning to the Carhampton Recreation Ground and Butchers Arms. Kevin the Butchers landlord remains most enthusiastic about the festival, and keeps a good pint. Food is reasonably priced and of good quality and quantity. The Butchers Arms also provide the bar at the Recreation Hall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Butchers is available for Bed & Breakfast, and breakfast for non residents, has a child friendly garden, and is open throughout the weekend. Phone 01643 821333.
All camping will be at the Recreation Ground field, Facilities may not be open all night but shower facilities are available. We will ensure that there is a 24 hour loo. Regret no hook-ups. If you are camping early booking recommended and full directions are in the website.
The main concert/activity venue is the Recreation Ground Hall. Concert Guests for 2008 are – Good Company (with Pete Slade who will act as concert m/c), Nicola Clark (Singer/songwriter from Cornwall), Andrew and Carole (salty songs from the Gower), Pete Collins (a fine singer from Sussex), Harry Browns (possibly the best Shanty Group in the area) and No Fixed Abode (excellent Irish duo with rave reviews). The hall has kitchen facilities. (Remember Di’s famous teas). The Workshops are Singing – African and Gospel, Songs of the American Civil War, Folk Art, Local Tales, and Herbaceous Border (Morris dancing).
The festival and camping is based in the middle of CARHAMPTON. The village has a local shop providing all the usual needs (papers, off license etc.). Please respect the needs of the locals and keep the informal noise, however good it is, down after midnight.
Looking forward to meeting you (again). Mike & Diane
