" Like a beat-up Dusty Springfield after too many long nights working a dreary after-hours bar "

Rebecca Pronsky

The queen of twang - Brooklyn native Rebecca Pronsky is one of New York City's finest singer-songwriters & tours with lead guitarist Rich Bennett who "puts the trimmings on the music with a battery of echo drenched, twangy leads"

Mary Jean Lewis & The Low Men -

Southern Belle, Mary Jean Lewis is part of a musical legacy that started back in the fifties with her uncle, rock n roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis. She's a dynamic personality and performer exuding all the charm you would expect from a Louisiana woman, just like her piano playing rock n roll mum Linda Gail Lewis. Accompanied by Martin Barrett (guitar) JT Davidson (Pedal steel) and Sy McBain (Upright Bass) her music is a ‘up close and personal’ look at Americana retro-roots music - from the cool, soft and sultry vintage country to the rough and tumble honky tonkin tunes.

“When you play this kind of music, you feel a special connection with the audience and with the song. It reminds of those times back in Sandy Bayou where everyone would get together and take turns singing songs on the porch. Those times are such a part of who I am and why I love this music the way I do. It wasn't just our entertainment. It was our way of life.” ... MJL

Dom & The Iko Iko’s -

Cooking up a hot mardi gras gumbo, London based quintet the iko iko’s are led by Dom Pipkin who’s piano playing is inspired by the New Orleans greats Professor Longhair, James Booker & Dr John. There big hits on the international Festival circuit & their first ever north east visit is accompanied with the brand’s brand new album ! Dom is also MD for pop sensation Paloma Faith !!!

+ The Delines ( featuring Richmond Fontaine ) TBC

David Broad & Serious Sam Barrett -

David Broad and Serious Sam Barrett are well - established solo performers from Leeds. David Broad plays mean vintage uptown blues with authenticity and passion, breathing new life into well-worn songs with his accomplished finger- picking. Serious Sam plays a mix of self penned folk, skiffle & rural rock n roll, played on his 12 - string guitar and sung with the voice of a real troubadour. Together they are like those real old country blues duets but with Woody Guthrie hanging around in the corner.

The Cornshed Sisters -

Back after a brief hiatus, Sunderland’s all-girl folk harmony group The Cornshed Sisters make an exclusive journey up to the barn in Easington. Expect their own self penned delicate folksy pop, a trad song, or two, a little retro country gospel with lots of harmonies, some piano ballads and some charming a’cappella finger-clicking ditties played on ukuleles and lots other instruments.

Big Red & The Grinners

Big Red and The Grinners perform a crazy mixture of familiar musical songs in their own distinctive way that ……. like their name suggests, puts a grin on your face ! So forget RUN C&W (as most people already have) its bluegrass, folk and country delivered with a South Shields surprise.

Skylark Song

Skylark Song (Alex McRae & Emma Davis) really impressed us, during our campfire sessions last time, so we’ve added them to the bill for Jamboree No 2. They are an acoustic duo of guitar, fiddle, & vocals and play folksy, bluesy and jazzy songs old & new with lush harmonies.

Sarah Jane Scouten Duo (Canada) -

Originally from Bowen Island, British Columbia, Sarah’s based in Montreal, Canada & writes and perform’s original folk and old-time country songs, inspired by Appalachian, bluegrass, honky-tonk and country music.

The Lost Brothers - Irish duo with harmonies like the Everly Bros & lush lush music

Other attractions

J’Hot Club Jamboree is delighted to present the Living Archive Project through Newcastle University which combines music, heritage and culture to develop a living archive of music, stories and song on old technology. The Living Archive Project will bring the spirit of the early folk collectors especially Alan Lomax into the present, by pairing contemporary musicians with the songs and technology of the past. Live recordings on a 1938 Presto lathe will take place in a specially designed space at the Jamboree. The results will defy time and place, creating living music inspired by ghosts.
