Tom Millar – Fender Rhodes
Alex Roth – Guitar
Mike Clowes – Drums
James Opstad – Bass

Tom Millar quartet return to Green Note after their sell-out London Jazz Festival gigs over the last two years, performing material from their upcoming debut album, supported by Jazz Services funding and an Emerging Excellence Award from the Musicians' Benevolent Fund. Formed at the beginning of 2011, while the four were studying on the Royal Academy of Music jazz course, expect to hear an exciting, soulful and intuitive band sound, with Tom's compositions characterised by strong, catchy melodies, intricate rhythmic grooves, creative use of elements of free playing, and unusual song forms.

Piano/guitar-led jazz from this ambitious young band featuring pianist/leader Millar alongside guitarist Alex Roth, bassist James Opstad and drummer Mike Clowes. Exploring sophisticated original material their Brad Mehldau/Kurt Rosenwinkel-ish sound shows promise. (Time Out)

Tom Millar is a jazz artist whose integrity, sensitivity and joy of music making are clear in both his writing and in his performance. He brought his own voice and contemporary approach to Michael Garrick’s music and contributed greatly to the success of the Lyric Ensemble Tour in 2013. (Tony Woods/Nette Robinson)
