George Szirtes, born in Budapest, came to the UK as a child in 1956. His distinction as a poet has been recognised in the continung series of awards of which he has been recipient.

He has often worked collaboratively with his artist wife, Clarissa Upchurch, and occasionally with his son, Tom, who works with live and pre-recorded music. Childhood drawings by his daughter, Helen, provided inspiration for collections of children's poems. Helen is now a writer and editor.

George will read a selection of his poetry. Clarissa, Tom and Helen will each present an illustrated overview of their individual work and then talk about their interaction, giving a glimpse of the inner workings of a family sharing their considerable talents as well as fulfilling their Individual creativity.

There will be a short interval halfway through the evening after which George will talk about writing poetry and announce the results of the Ealing Autumn Festival Poetry Competition "Constellations". The winners will be invited to read their poems.

There will be time for questions and answers. Books will be available for signing with the rare opportunity of having both authors to put their signatures in their joint publications.

Refreshments will be on sale at the bar from 7pm.

This event is suitable for children aged 10 and over.

There will be a new opera, concerts, films, drama, poetry, new visual art, family events and events about families, and much more, to intrigue and delight.

The Festival is also putting on its first poetry competition with the theme Constellations. The competition will be judged by George Szirtes, internationally acclaimed winner of the T S Eliot and many other prizes.
