Mirror 'Ruins' CD Release
Dan Nicholls' Mirror performs music from Ruins - a genre-bending new album utilising production values from avant-electronica with the energy and groove of the downtown New York creative music scene. Featuring an ensemble comprising some of the UK's most original and progressive new musical thinkers, the music - with its accompanying video/animation stills and words - represents a cohesive and strongly individual project.
Paul Roger's WHAHAY
The first project as a leader from Paul Rogers for over a decade, Whahay is the fruit of one of those meetings uncovering parallel routes, common grounds and complementary languages.
Formed following an invitation from the prestigious Jazz-à-Luz Festival in France this trio of multi-faceted improvisors with impressive individual track-records gathered around the music of Charles Mingus.
The great composer, fourth guest to the feast appears as a watermark through the earthy lyricism of his themes, interpreted with only one catchphrase: carte blanche!
Robin Fincker - tenor saxophone, clarinet
Paul Rogers - 7 string double bass
Fabien Duscombs - drums
