Presented by: Grampian Concert Orchestra
0ABERDEEN: Ferryhill Church of Scotland
PSunday 25th September, 2016
N7:30pm

Event information

Grampian Concert Orchestra is privileged to host well known Aberdeenshire fiddler and composer Paul Anderson, to play his own work, arranged for full orchestra, with Paul himself as soloist. This is the first performance of the work in the City of Aberdeen. Its only previous performance was at the Deeside Festival in Aboyne last year.

The orchestra will also feature other sumptuous works on a Scottish theme, including the Mendelssohn Symphony no. 3 "Scottish" and "A Scottish Rhapsody", a foot-tapping short piece by 20th century English light music composer, Ronald Binge. (Binge arranged and composed for Mantovani, for whom he invented the familiar cascading strings effect and one of his other compositions is the famous Radio 4 Shipping Forecast theme 'Sailing by'.)
