Event information

Join us for a chaotic science cabaret in the pub featuring a line-up of experts who will delve into the weird and wonderful side of science.

What happens if you fill a pub with clever and lovely people then invite loads of amazing scientists to entertain them?

Join us at the Amersham Arms on Wednesday, 15 March to hear Goldsmiths scientists take you on a high-speed dash through their chosen subject. Featuring serial killers, Brad Pitt, and a high-tech smart glove. Expect laughs, facts that sound totally made up but aren't, and loads of terrible PowerPoints.

Comedian and compere Steve Cross will be venturing south of the river once again to keep everyone to time. He used to work at UCL, but we won't hold it against him.

The line-up:

Mark d’Inverno (Computing) on ‘Why machines can never be creative - the history and future of creativity’

Caoimhe McAnena (Psychology) on the psychology of the ‘Croydon Cat Killer’

Ashok Jansari (Psychology) asks ‘What's the difference between Brad Pitt and a Super-cop?’

Nick Hine (Computing) on 'Tasty Latin American Models'

Hadeel Ayoub (Computing) Let's have a talk...Glove to Glove

Robert Chapman (Psychology) on why ‘Science Reporting isn't funny’

Sarah Wiseman (Computing) on 'People are WEIRD - Why we shouldn’t experiment on students'

Doors 6:30pm for 7pm start.

Part of British Science Week. Line-up subject to change. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to CARA, the Centre for At-Risk Academics.
