Sylvie Simmons is a singer-songwriter, ukulele player - and Leonard Cohen's biographer. She was a rock writer and author for 35 years before I'm Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen was published and she set off around the world, talking about Cohen and singing his songs. When she got back she was offered a record deal and made an album of her own songs with Howe Gelb/Giant Sand. The Times called it "Poetic, guileless, reminiscent of a female Leonard Cohen; The Guardian called it "One of the most beautiful albums of the year." One of her songs is in the new movie "Juliet, Naked".
At the Betsey Trotwood show - her only hometown date this year - she'll team up again with Jason McNiff, with whom she did a US West Coast tour.
