"The debut album from Lou Lyne & the Blue Almond Project is an exquisite set of instrumental pieces composed by Lou Lyne of Oxford-based cinematic Arabic jazz band, Brickwork Lizards. Scored for violin, viola, cello, and piano, Lou’s music comes from the heart. It weaves together subtly shifting tonalities, Debussy-esque shimmers, nods to Yann Tiersen, and the occasional Arabic inflection to create a glorious and emotive sound-world utterly her own. The pieces reflect wordlessly and beautifully on the themes of love, loss, and longing." (Jane Griffiths, Owl Light Trio)
The quartet features Vanessa McNaught on viola (Adderbury Ensemble), Jane Griffiths on fiddle (Owl Light Trio), Ashton Gray (Sparsholt Collective) on piano, and Lou Lyne on cello.
