Caribbean-born Michele Stodart is an award-winning solo artist, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist now based in London. Best renowned as bassist, vocalist and co-songwriter of Mercury-nominated, double-platinum selling band, The Magic Numbers, with whom she continues to play and tour world-wide. Michele has always pursued her own writing alongside her band and nurtured a love for folk/Americana artists as Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch. After almost a decade of touring, she took some time out to record an album of her own songs: Wide-Eyed Crossing (2012), a southern-drenched journey into Americana country blues. She soon became known for her intimate, heart-wrenching live performances, gaining her recognition for her solo material and helping to establish her as a singer-songwriter in her own right. A few years later, she was signed by One Little Independent. A second solo album - Pieces (2016)- followed shortly after, receiving great critical acclaim for its melodic, cinematic country/roots-influenced songs.

Michele’s diverse skills as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and musical director have led to many collaborative projects in the studio or on stage with artists such as Kathryn Williams, Billy Bragg, Bernard Butler, David Ford, Natalie Imbruglia, Ren Harvieu, Charlie Dore, David Kitt, Hannah White, O'Hooley & Tidow amongst many others.

In 2022, she received public recognition for her talent, when she was awarded the AMA-UK 'Instrumentalist Of The Year' award. In January 2023 she was invited back as musical director at the UK Americana Awards.

Currently, Michele is working on her third solo album, due for release in September 2023.

Venue Access - The whole venue is on one level, but there is a single step at the front of the building. A portable ramp is available if required. There is no accessible toilet, but customers are welcome to use the accessible toilet at Gullivers across the road if needed.

There isn’t a dedicated lowered bar area, but customers who may require one are welcome to use the side entrance of the bar (normally marked ‘no service’), and our staff will come and serve you from there.

Events may be seated or standing, but chairs are always available on request and we will place these at the front of the venue so that you have a clear view of the stage. Please contact us ahead of the show if you would like us to arrange this for you by emailing us at info@englishfolkexpo.com
