Event information

Hello Horse is back to present a triple-bill of some of the finest singer-songwriters Cork and South Yorkshire have to offer (South Corkshire).

CAOILIAN SHERLOCK (Cork, IE) combines elements of psychedelic indie rock with impactful and insightful pop music.

Following an array of playful and infectious singles and a four track EP ‘Big Child’, Sherlock released his debut solo album ‘Teenage Jesus’ in May 2023.

Caoilian has worked as a potato picker, a Santa Claus, a temp at an ill-fated music store, an obscenely quiet busker, a barman, a sexual health teacher; he has sold vases and scarves at flea markets and played the part of a “moving picture” at a Harry Potter themed wedding. He has worked many jobs that have, in one way or another, encouraged a lot of introspection.

Playing guitar and writing songs since the age of fifteen, well worn through years in rock and roll bands, he began playing solo shows that reflect a folkier and sparser terrain. Backed with an electric guitar, a sense of entitlement and an overly sentimental view of almost everything, his music reflects a part of his record collection that hosts Paul Simon, John Prine and more recent luminaries like Bill Ryder-Jones and Angel Olsen.

Throughout his journey, Caoilian's sound evolved from a pure folk style to a more experimental approach. The resulting album, Teenage Jesus, is packed full of charming lo-fi pop tracks with catchy choruses that balance carefree nonchalance with poignant introspection.

This show sees Sherlock performing as a duo with bandmate Leah Hearne.

TOM PAYTON-GREENE -
Former Tropic of Youth frontman returns to the stage after a decade in the wilderness. Armed with a new set of mature melodic indie pop songs about love, loss, family, and failure, Tom turns complex personal reflections into powerful, harmony laden hooks flowing with hope and optimism. Joined by an all-star cast of Sheffield musicians and pals.

BETHAN ROBINSON -
You may know her as the frontwoman for super cool wholesomecore rock band Bean Weevil, or you may know her as the frontwoman of lush folk group Jupiter In Jars. Here she is solo with her charming and evocative songs about loved ones, self care and the outdoors. Heart-wrenchingly simple lyrics with melody lines that are at once understated and soaring. Likely to warm you up both figuratively and emotionally.
