A Life on the Farm (75 minutes) is a film about Charles Carson who lived at Coombe End Farm in Huish Champflower until just after the turn of the millennium. Much of it is Carson’s own footage of his time there, discovered by filmmaker Oscar Harding amongst the effects of his late grandfather, who knew Charles as a friend and neighbour. An extraordinary document about an extraordinary man, the film offers an eccentric, sometimes hilarious perspective on a fast vanishing era in English rural life.
It will be publicly shown for the first time at Huish Champflower Village Hall at 8.00pm on Tuesday 5 September, 2023. The evening will include a short talk about the film and its subject by Oscar as well as other surprises!
In support we are also showing a short 12 minute film directed by Nathan Powles : The Gentleman Farmer
Struggling financially and dependant on his livestock, The Farmer must search for his lambs when they are stolen the day before the big market.
Doors open at 7.15pm
BYO drinks and we advise a small cushion to sit on as some of the chairs have no padding!
Tickets are £6.00 each.
Profits from this evening will be donated to the Huish Champflower Village Hall refurbishment fund.
