Event information

Celtic Soul singer-guitarist and former Doll By Doll frontman Jackie Leven was born in 1950 into a Romany family. He spent his childhood and teenage years as an outsider in the clannish, Fife, Scotland. Although Scottish himself, neither of his parents were from the area - his father was an Irish Cockney, his mother was from a large Northumberland (Geordie) family.

The Scottish poet and singer-songwriter has gone by the pseudonyms of John St. Field (for the 1971 album "Control") and Sir Vincent Lone for the 2004 album "Songs For Lonely Americans". As Jackie Leven, he has released 11 albums since his return to music in 1994; one of these, a duet with author Ian Rankin, features an exclusive short story, "Jackie Leven Said".

Hopelessly wayward at school, with few friends, his attendance was woeful. But those truanting times spent alone in glens and by rivers, still form the basis of his songs' imagery to this day.

Jackie will be performing songs from his forthcoming studio album - 'Gothic Road'
