Event information

The 2010 Musical Comedy Awards saw 40 of the hottest UK Musical Comedy acts performing in 7 completely sold out shows at the Wilmington Arms and a Time Out Critics Choice and Guardian Pick of the Week Grand Final at the gorgeous New Players Theatre!

You can read a review of the final here: http://www.spoonfed.co.uk/spooners/evolmike-871/musical-comedy-awards-2010-2511/

With this year's competition over, we want to give you the chance to see extended sets of the brilliant artists who took part this year! The Wilmington Arms is just about the coolest pub in the world. To get an idea of the amazing atmosphere, watch this clip of the Quarter-Finals: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=341164316260

The first of several showcases will feature the following artists:

HEADLINED BY JAY FOREMAN:

Jay is one of the hottest properties on the musical comedy circuit in 2010. He came third in this year's Awards, though many judges felt he should have won it. Come and watch him perform an extended set.

'Arguably the most musically gifted songwriter among us tonight' - SPOONFED

'Likeable presence, elegant performance and an effective collection of gags....one of the most musically talented finalists' - CHORTLE

'Jay Foreman is a talent to watch. For me, he was head and shoulders better than anyone else in the final' - EARL OKIN

KEVIN DAVIDSON + FRIENDS

Kevin hasn't been involved in musical comedy for long, but that didn't stop him from storming to the Semi-Finals of the Awards with his smooth, sexy and ridiculous songs. Come and listen to his apple juice song...genius! He will also be joined by the Commie Faggots and Mooga Frese testing out new material.

BEN GLASSTONE

Multi-talented musician, composer and comedian with a style reminiscent of the great Tom Lehrer: http://www.musicalcomedy.co.uk/video/300/love-and-specs

His reviews speak for themselves:

'Glasstone mixes wildly disparate styles from Klezmer to Renaissance Madrigal and his lyrics are inspired' - NEW YORK TIMES

'Ben Glasstone's delightful songs' - TIME OUT

HANNAH BRACKENBURY

Very talented singer-songwriter based in Brighton who reached the Quarter-Finals of this year's Awards with her finely-crafted, hilarious songs. A real treat! Check out one of her brilliant songs here: http://www.musicalcomedy.co.uk/video/291/The-L-Word--Hannah-Brackenbury

SOOZ KEMPNER

This year's Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards! Having only played 3 gigs before entering the Awards, Sooz Kempner is definitely one to watch! http://www.musicalcomedy.co.uk/video/314/Sooz-Kempners-parody-of-Beautiful-Christina-Aguilera

'Quirky style and a knockout voice' - CHORTLE
