Harvey Brough Requiem in Blue
A selection of sacred & secular choral music
Join around 100 musicians from across the local community, primary schools and the professional jazz world in Harvey Brough’s Requiem in Blue – a large scale which brings to together music and expression from jazz, classical, pop, blues and the traditional Latin mass. The text also draws from a range of sources traditional and contemporary sources, including visionary words written by playwright, Lee Hall (Billy Elliott, Spoonface Steingburg) ending with a powerful prayer for redemption:
“and when people kissed there were sparks and when people held each other there were sparks and when they waved as they were going away there would be sparks - and they would all be prayers”
The performance also marks the beginning of our ‘In Our Neighbourhood’ project, which will see community projects such as this become a regular feature of future festivals.
Supported by the Kensington Vocal Ensemble
