One of the UK’s leading college choirs, The Queen’s College Choir, perform a programme celebrating the music of Renaissance Europe and the varying styles of 20th Century choral writing. Their programme brings together texts from throughout the church year, from the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis of the daily office of Evensong, to the prophetic Lamentations traditionally sung during Holy Week. As well as hymns, anthems and motets in very different musical settings exploring a variety of ways to the use the vocal ensemble including American composer, and leader of the Virtual Choir, Eric Whitacre’s hauntingly beautiful Lux aurumque.
