Summer Speed Listening by The Note Well

Event information

Your ticket includes a bottle of beer and a piece of cake to kick off the fun.

Need a new summer playlist or playmate? Share your songs and stories of the summer with some new friends and receive an earful in return at The Note Well's Summer Speed Listening.

Dress code: Beach bros and summer sisters

How-to:
1. Think of ten or so songs you can present to someone else: They can be any genre or period as long as you can say something about why you chose each one.
2. Bring them on your portable music player. Don't forget your headphones.
3. Get seated by us and start Speed Listening! You will have about ten minutes to exchange as much music with someone as you would both like. You may listen to full songs or skip to the good bits--the only rule is that you maintain control of your own music player. Write down the songs you like.
4. Rotate partners when we ask you to--you can continue your great conversations during The Note Well DJs set after the event.

Important:
1. Charge your iPod/etc. Don't forget your headphones.
2. Do not be lazy! Do not hit "shuffle!" That would not be fun for anyone. This is your chance to curate what someone is listening to--be engaged!
3. No snobbery. Even if you can't stand someone's playlist, you can still have a decent conversation about fun summer stuff.
4. Have confidence in your music taste--you'd be surprised by what people don't know or might like. And you can always add more to a song in your presentation: '"Since U Been Gone" is a song of my summer because Kelly Clarkson is like your hometown girl--you gotta root for her! Also, during an end-of-term speech one summer, a mobile went off with this song as a ringtone. Some huge crew rower bro silenced it and mumbled his apologies."
5. Don't leave your listening partner hanging--the tables will be waited for food and drink orders and there will be a washroom break at halftime.
