ELLEN AND THE ESCAPADES
Ellen and the Escapades are one of the UK's most promising emerging acts. Hailing from Leeds, the folk-rock/alt-folk quintet make music that is delicate, bittersweet and soul-searching. Since winning the Q Magazine/Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition and playing the BBC Introducing stages at Leeds and Reading Festivals in 2010 and 2009 respectively, the band have gone from strength to strength. The tour around their debut EP 'Of All The Times' last autumn resulted in sell out shows across the UK and the firm attention of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and The Guardian. They have since played a range of the country's major music festivals and continued their relentless touring.
ETHAN ASH
Soul-pop upcomer Ethan Ash has been a busy man over the past 12 months. Beginning his journey by supporting Seth Lakeman, Ed Sheeran and Nick Harper on UK tour dates and swiftly being chosen as an iTunes Single of the Week for debut single 'Tried To Get Rid Of Me', Ethan is a force to be reckoned with. Summer 2011 has seen him play at Cambridge Folk Festival and Bestival, as well as on the Secret Garden Party main stage. With an outstanding live reputation (and a habit of sharing jelly babies with his audiences), Ethan Ash self-releases new single 'All I Need' on September 19th and spends most of the autumn touring in support of the new release.
TAKEDA
Every now and again, you come across a band that is truly outstanding. Takeda are a supremely talented three-piece, hailing from a town just outside Norwich, and they take influences from a range of different genres. Their unique brand of music combines elements of alternative, fusion, world, ambient, folk and folk rock, forming a sound that they describe as 'raga rock'. They receive passionate, ongoing support from BBC Introducing and have already supported the likes of Jesca Hoop and The Miserable Rich. After an eight month hibernation, the band return to play their only autumn live show as part of the Norwich Sound and Vision Festival.
THE WOODLAND CREATURES
The Woodland Creatures are a female folk duo based in Norwich. They have been together for two years and boast a multi-instrumental set up including banjo, guitar and tin whistles. Since their beginnings, the band have successfully organised a wide-ranging UK tour, produced and self-released their own EP release and screen printed Woodland Creature design T-shirts. In 2012, they are intending to record and release their debut album and get out on the road for more touring.
