RND celebrate Xmas with a special K records night at the green door store, brighton

Kicking off the night will be a rare UK screening of the totally awesome "The Shield Around The K" documentary film, it's mega. Here's some more info...

The Shield Around the K: The Story of K Records (2000) is a documentary produced and directed by Heather Rose Dominic about the independent record label, K Records. The film profiles the birth and growth of the punk rock DIY label based in Olympia, Washington.
Co-founders, Calvin Johnson and Candice Pedersen are interviewed along with over 20 K artists and peers including Michael Azerrad, Timothy Brock, Gerard Cosloy, The Crabs, Steve Fisk, John Foster, John Goodmanson, Toni Holm, Rich Jensen, Peter Kember, David Lester, Bret Lunsford, Ian MacKaye, Lois Maffeo, Patrick Maley, Rose Melberg, Slim Moon, Jack Rabid, David Raugh, Ira Robbins, Jean Smith, Winston Vidor, Wandering Lucy and Dean Wareham.
Included are Super 8 music videos of Beat Happening, The Halo Benders, Lois, Mecca Normal and Tiger Trap directed by Patrick Maley and Lois Maffeo. The film also contains rare footage from the International Pop Underground Convention, a six-day festival held at the Capital Theater in Olympia, Washington in August, 1991.

SHRAG- Brighton's finest ever indiepop outfit, and K Records own UK heir apparent are headlining, and are all gonna dress up as Calvin, specially for you. Probably gonna be playing songs from their new album, due out on fortuna pop in january

TENDER TRAP- fronted by all-time riotsnotdiets heroine, AMELIA FLETCHER (heavenly, tallulah gosh, marine reasearch) Tender Trap combine Amelia's inspiringly twee-yet-fierce lyrics with a powerful rhythm section combining members of Dweeb, Allo' Darlin', and sometimes Betty and The Werewolves. They used to be signed to K, as did Heavenly, and are living proof that life is worth living.

There'll be prizes for best dressed, so if you wanna come dressed as the donnas, or rose melberg or summit then bring a rad tote bag to take yr prize home in...

As usual, there'll be zines and daft diy stuff for those last minute stocking fillers...
