ALASDAIR ROBERTS
Alasdair Roberts is a Scottish singer-songwriter and interpreter of traditional ballads. In 1994 he started playing small venues as ‘Appendix Out’ and was discovered by American musician Will Oldham (aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy), which led to a record contract with US label Drag City. His most recent album, and his third collection of traditional material, was 2010's 'Too Long In This Condition'. Credited to Alasdair Roberts & Friends, it features a stellar cast of international musicians who perfectly complement his raptly personal versions of the songs recorded.
Roberts has toured extensively in the UK and beyond, and recently completed a solo European tour opening for Joanna Newsom. This followed a front cover feature in the March 2010 edition of The Wire magazine that served to demonstrate his ability to appeal to both the underground ‘Wyrd Folk’ community as well as the traditional folk community.
