KATIE MALCO
From Scitland but now resident in downtown Brixton, Katie's debut EP was recently released on Alcopop Records and was recorded in a church with Iain Archer of such fame as Snow Patrol, Tired Pony, and Iain Archer. He is Irish and nice.
Live, she plays with a super group band of ex-Reuben and Hold Your Horse Is members. How about that.

THE LIFTMEN
Even though they've released a full album and contributed several tracks on Twisted Nerve compilations, no one has quite been able to pin down The Liftmen's sound. They've been compared to Captain Beefheart, Gorky's, Young Marble Giants, Blonde Redhead, The Sea and Cake and Sonic Youth often in the same song. Their second album for Manchester's fine twisted Nerve label is due out in November.
'The band are not only quite unlike anything else around at the moment but quite bizarre even by Twisted Nerve standards. The atonal strumming of 'Belly Can' combines garage rock frivolousness with new wave abrasion, and the whole album seems to be laced with a woozy preoccupation with the absurd. Intriguing stuff.' - Boomkat
