Legendary Producer 'Joe Boyd' (Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, REM) is not a man you can easily impress! Yet, Joe Boyd has written the following about Mark Abis 'Going back to the mid-Sixties, I have heard more than any one man's share of singer-songwriter's. So it takes a lot to get my attention. His melodies are original, his vocals warm and distinctive, a real musical sensibility is obvious, with literary lyrics to boot. My vote for one of the best of the new generation.'

Mark's talent has also been recognised by others, including the beautiful Emiliana Torrini who recorded a version of the 'Abis' penned song 'Summerbreeze' on her 'Love in the time of Science album'. "Summerbreeze" has also been featured on television programs including Brothers & Sisters, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The song was included on the 2003 official soundtrack album Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Radio Sunnydale. His song "For a Woman's Love" was featured on the television program Eli Stone.

Abis first cut his teeth in the cafes and folk cellars of London where he performed his spell binding set alongside future stars such as Keziah Jones, Paddy Casey and The Hank Dogs.' He later formed a working relationship with Francis Eg White (Producer and Ivor Novello winner) who produced 'Changing Inside' Abis''first album.

This much lauded singer songwriter currently resides in London where he continues to write, record and perform. Performance is a key part of his creative process where he discards barriers between himself and his audience....And with each live appearance, he always gives that little bit extra, leaving his audience in no doubt....that they have truly witnessed something wonderfully unique.

A review in 'Triste Magazine’ possibly describes Mark Abis, the Performer best: 'It's just Mark Abis goes for that sound so many aim to emulate: poignant lyrics and a rousing chorus, meaning his listeners really take something away with them.'

This year sees Abis adding to his recording prowess, he is currently recording new material with David Watson, who has worked with Eric Clapton and the late Bert Jansch!

"...a considerable grasp of tuneful, lyrically intriguing Folky Pop. Utilising some subtle instrumental colouring to his lyrical ruminations..." Alan Robinson - Indiscreet PR

“Mark Abis was a last minute replacement for Elephant Talk and the all too small audience at the Fred Wedlock stage was given a genuine treat. With outstanding guitar work and the occasional smattering of harmonica the songs were at times touching, with gentle in-between song humor.” Christopher Friedenthal

“Original, easy to listen to, romantic, and just plain fun.” S. Fuller
