CLUBHOUSE RECORDS TOUR presents: THE DREAMING SPIRES + THE CEDARS + MAT GIBSON
The fresh and new Clubhouse Records label was founded in 2010 by a group of musicians as an artist friendly haven for all things under the broad banner of ‘Americana’. Incorporating a small studio (‘The Clubhouse’) in the Buckinghamshire countryside the label acts as a crucible for releases, live events and multi media activity.
The label’s first offering was a compilation by the name of ‘’Divided By A Common Language - A Collection of UK Americana" which was released in March to critical acclaim. The album features 15 of the best UK based Americana acts on the circuit today including; Alan Tyler, Redlands Palomino Company, Two Finders of Firewater, The Cedars, The Hi and Lo, Southern Tennant Folk Union and The Dreaming Spires.

THE DREAMING SPIRES
Oxford's The Dreaming Spires burst fresh out of the box with an enviable musical pedigree. Group members - and brothers - Robin and Joe Bennett were formally of Goldrush and Danny & the Champions of the World while new single Everything All The Time (and B Side In Our Lifetimes) was produced by Supergrass producer (and Oxford based) Sam Williams. The band are skillfully aided by Loz Colbert of Ride on drums, making the guys something of an Oxford supergroup.
This is fine, fine Americana; not so much foot-tapping as dancing with abandon from a band that fuses the warmth and energy of west-coast America with the spirit and heritage of their beloved home town of Oxford.

THE CEDARS
Much-loved London-based Alt-Americana quartet, with soaring vocals, infectious rhythms and blasts of slide guitar and banjo. Plying tales of lost love, revenge and rural homicide, The Cedars manage to straddle the divide between the dancehalls of the 20's and 30's and what's going on in the scene right now.
'Shuffling, rootsy Americana 'n Country offset nicely by singer Chantal's beautifully silky, lilting voice - singing songs about 'dirt and shame in that stony ground'. ' - MusicMart

MAT GIBSON
Sparse and contemplative, South London's own Mat Gibson ushers in comparisons to Springsteen's 'Nebraska', Jim James of My Morning Jacket and 'Being There' era Wilco. Built around a lead vocal and acoustic guitar, instrumentation is minimal. Percussion is often just a floor tom and a tambourine whilst flashes of piano, harmonica, glockenspiel and slide guitar accent Mat's doubled or harmonised vocals and flat-picked guitar.
Both haunting and challenging, Mat's subtle and evocative lyrics probe complex contemporary themes with a deft, metaphorical approach. Managing to blur the divisions between past and present, Mat's soul-searching prose is as much an exercise in self-questioning as a hint to larger, far-reaching socio-political questions all rounded off with a touch of black comedy and satire.
Mat's new album 'Forest Fire' was recorded with Rowland Prytherch (Danny & The Champions of the World, The Epstein) at Truck Studios, Oxfordshire was released in September 2011 on Clubhouse Records.
