Event information

Happiness Through Science (Star Corpse Apple Child)

Direct from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011.
Following on from his sellout national tour of ‘Uncaged Monkeys’, with Professor Brian Cox, and as co-presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Sony Gold Award winning series ‘The Infinite Monkey Cage’, Robin continues his comic exploration of the human condition in his new autumn show.

Robin asks can you be happy and rational at the same time. Join him in a world of Schrodinger cats, multiverses and evolutionary conundrums. Spend an entertaining evening in Robin’s company as he orienteers through the craggy landscape of evolution whilst plumbing the depths of his own murky consciousness, all without the aid of a safety net.

Running Time: 90 minutes + interval

Sony Gold Award winner for BBC Radio 4's 'The Infinite Monkey Cage'

"thoughtful, provocative and very funny." The Times

"When someone writes a history of modern comedy, they should make room for Robin Ince" - The Guardian

Robin Ince is a comedian, writer, presenter and all round popular culture pundit and film expert.

Over the years Robin has written gags for the likes of Alastair McGowan, Graham Norton, The Sketch Show and Have I Got News For You. He also wrote the hugely successful 'John Peel meets the dictators' monologues for Channel 4's The 11'OClock Show.

In 2005 he performed a brand new stand-up show Robin Ince As Dumb As You at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim, as well as hosting the comedy show The Book Club.

He has supported Ricky Gervais on his Politics tour around the country and featured in the Politics DVD that came out last year. He also appeared briefly in an episode of The Office, as a job applicant.

Robin has also contributed to the world of radio. Recent credits include writing and performing The In Crowd on Radio 4, and has also appeared in We've Been Here Before, Loose Ends, 4 At The Store and Beat The Kids.

No doubt you may recognise him from popping up all over the place on telly, lending his views on such shows as Big Brother's Little Brother and Morning Glory, both for Channel 4.

He continues to gig extensively on the UK circuit and beyond both as a stand up and compere including South Africa, Australia, Poland and Bosnia where he rather bizarrely supported The Stranglers in front of an audience of 1,500 squaddies.

Robin has also co-written his first feature film. Set in the world of children's dance competitions, Razzle Dazzle is a comedy starring Ben Miller, one half of comedy double act Armstrong and Miller.
audience of 1,500 squaddies.

Most recently Robin created the live show School For Gifted Children before he joined forces with Richard Dawkins and other celebrated athiests to champion their belief that when we snuff it, that really is it, with a series of live shows such as 9 Lessons and Carols For Godless Children.
