Dizraeli is a rapper, singer, poet, and person: the half-daft missionary who forced folk to marry hiphop.
His elastic, unhinged flows run through the supermarkets, love, tenements and rain of Engurland with a sidelong smile and a twist of phrase. He has won the BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam and the Farrago UK Slam Championships. He’s written several hiphop plays, including the award-winning The Rebel Cell with Canadian spoken word visionary Baba Brinkman.
Dizraeli has performed solo spoken word shows all over the world, from Inverness to Zimbabwe. He is also the chatty part of hiphop-folk partnership Dizraeli and the Small Gods. Find out more at http://www.dizraeli.com
“Refreshingly shameless… unusual and addictive… in both style and quality, Engurland is way ahead of the rest.” Sound On Sound magazine on Engurland (City Shanties).
“Dizraeli is a true folk hero, capturing the truth of our times with groundlevel honesty … a wealth of music, wit and wisdom. Five stars.” Venue Magazine on Engurland (City Shanties).
And he’ll be supported immaculately by local boy Inja, an artist with residencies at Drum and Bass, Hip Hop and Dubstep nights all over the UK; he is the official DMC World host and has toured with legends such as Taskforce, Logistics and Foreign Beggars. His work spans a huge variety of genres including dubstep, hiphop, grime, drum and bass and freestyle poetry. As well as performing, Inja co-runs Page to Performance, a UK-based education organisation with the central aim of bringing words and poetry to life. Find out more at http://www.injamusic.com
Hosted by Fay Roberts.
