See these April fools this month...
ANDREW LAWRENCE:
As soon on BBC1's Live At The Apollo, the former Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee is "one of the greatest as-yet undiscovered talents on the circuit" - Daily Mirror. Andrew has received rave recognition in all the key new act competitions and is now a regular favourite on the comedy circuit, gigging at all the major clubs across the country and building a base of discerning fans addicted to the bleakly dark comic world he creates. With his flawless timing and delivery he can induce tears of laughter from audience members almost against their will. You may have seen him on BBC3's Ideal or heard him on his own Radio 2 show, now see him live in Guildford.
'This talented young freak is about to explode onto the comedy circuit in a big way' Chortle
' Spellbinding and toally mesmerising' John Pidgeon – BBC Radio Former Editor of Light Entertainment
' …absolutely hilarious' Chortle
LLOYD GRIFFITH:
Lloyd is used to performing on the stage having come from a career as a professional classical singer, and uses this is his set to full effect when on the comedy stage. His confidence and ability to easily engage with the audience has earned him a number of compering residencies, including Get Up Stand Up in London and Therapy Rooms Comedy Club in Tunbridge Wells, and was the support at the latter club for a run of Lee Nelson’s preview Edinburgh shows.
‘His party-piece bursts of song certainly have the crowd rapt…" - Chortle
'the next big thing' - FHM
'I'm a sucker for a fat boy who sings like a girl, I was in seventh heaven' - Jill Offman, Managing Director, Comedy Central
MARK CORNELL:
In the last 4 years, Mark Cornell has played nearly 400 gigs, and been 2010 Laughing Horse Finalist (last 13 out of 1100), 2010 Amused Moose Semi Finalist (last 21 out of 600), 2008 Amused Moose Hot Starlet in Edinburgh among others. One to watch.
IVOR DEMBINA:
Ivor Dembina is a London based Jewish comedian who uses the traditional flavour of Jewish humour to tackle tricky subjects. His first solo show, Stand Up Jewish Comedy (1994) was a comic critique of his own life as a Jew brought up in north London, UK. His next show was SadoJudaism (2001), a close up and peculiarly Jewish view of the worlds of fetishism and sadomasochism. His most recent show (2004) was a comic account of his visit to Israel and the Palestine entitled 'This is Not a Subject for Comedy'. Whether he's doing a club set or in solo mode you can expect a mixture of thoughtful routines and top gags held together by a natural ease with the audience, a quality he's acquired through his extensive experience as a compere.
PAUL KERENSA (MC):
Exiled Cornishman Paul Kerensa has become a regular at the UK's biggest venues, and a popular and reliable headline act. He writes for various sitcoms, including BBC1 hits Not Going Out and After You've Gone, as well as sketch shows such as Dead Ringers, ITV's CGI UK and BBC3's The Wrong Door. He has also written for The News Quiz, The Now Show, and countless others.
