On Saturday 12th of May an eclectic performing arts and Music event takes place at Northumbria university students union. Featuring:

Slamboree: LIVE

who describe themselves as a “NEO BALKAN RAVE CIRCUS”. Slamboree were formed at the start of 2011 and now has taken shape to be a 10-piece live band with a Smörgåsbord of performers, daredevils and entertainers. Musically they fuse bass-driven beats with live orchestra, guitars, percussion, loops, visuals, brass, accordion, pyrotechnics and circus. The genres bounce around break beat, dubstep, drum & bass, dub, techno and electro fused with Balkan, folk, and 'gypsy' flavours... all original and all live. Within the last year together they've performed live shows at some top UK festivals such as Glastonbury Festival, Electric Picnic, Boomtown, Shambala, Beatherder, Kendal Calling and the River Thames in London.

Backyard Rhythm Orchestra: LIVE

With they’re 12 strong big band they describe themselves as a “High Energy party band taking influence from world music traditions such as Klezmer, Cumbia, Reggae, Afrobeat and Hip-hop. Featuring conscious lyrics inspired by the sub-conscious to stimulate the collective conscience.” A fusion which has something for everyone.

The Dirty Feet Crew

Featuring; the Dirty hobbit and Louie playing electro-swing, Balkan and global dance music.

Ms MQ:
(Beatherder festival resident Dj, Popolo, Arcane etc.) will be playing a soulful blend of golden oldies and mash-ups.

All of this will be on the mighty Pangea Sound System.

If that is not enough there will be walkabout and performances: from the local Lunatricks street performance and circus troupe.

Tickets are priced at £10, 10pm-3am and all profits go to support our free Local Green festival.
The Event is to launch the 16th annual Newcastle Community Green Festival and raise awareness and funds for the much loved local free, volunteer lead, environmental and arts festival which has been the biggest of its type in UK in the past, taking place on the weekend of June the 2nd and 3rd in Leazes park.
