Fauré Requiem
Allegri Miserere
and works by Bruckner, Franck, Mozart, Schubert and Victoria
7:30pm Saturday 21st April 2012
St. Paul's Church, Shipley
Emma Allison - treble
Paul Gibson - baritone
Daniel Justin - organ
Paul Dewhurst - conductor
St Paul's church in Shipley provides the perfect venue to experience the mystical Miserere by Allegri. Performed in the Sistine chapel in the early part of the 17th century, the copying or distributing of the work was punishable by excommunication. Although authorised versions had been released by the late 18th century, popular opinion has it that a 14 year old Mozart transcribed it, from a single hearing.
In addition, the concert includes Fauré's beautiful setting of the Requiem Mass and sacred works by Franck, Bruckner and Victoria.
For this concert, The Bradford Chorale is delighted to be joined once again by baritone Paul Gibson.
Tickets on the door are £10 (£5 under 14s) .
