JOHNNY DOWD (Ithaca, NY)

Johnny Dowd is an American original. Born in Texas and resident in Upstate New York since the late 70s, he was in various bands and was working as removals man before his solo career took off on the late 90s.

Although bracketed as "Americana" in the early days, his experimental, noisy breaks and lyrics that dealt out doses of Southern Gothic, dark humour and absurdism soon won him wider admirers including appearnaces at All Tomoow's Parties and a role in the movie "Wrong-Eyed Jesus".
