Tattie Jam are Scots duo Seylan Baxter and Ruaridh Pringle, amazing musicians with an unusual take on the hugely rich Scottish tradition. Much of their material is given a playful or funky contemporary twist, with a diverse blend of songs and tunes interpreted through thoughtful arrangements making a sound which is unique to them. Instruments range from guitar, banjo and cello to didgeridoo and stomp-box, all played with a high level of skill and sensitivity. Seylan is a graduate of Glasgow’s Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where she studied Scots cello and song, and Ruaridh studied traditional music under some of the best Scottish, Cape Breton and Irish musicians, as well as becoming a prolific and prize-winning writer and arranger of songs and traditional-style tunes. Together, their performance is thoughtful, funny and entertaining – real quality, in fact.
