Trinity Orchestra

Harrow’s highly-acclaimed Trinity Orchestra begins the 2012/13 concert season with a concert of contrasting music by Mozart and Bruckner.

The orchestra will be joined by the outstanding violinist Harriet Mackenzie, a musician described as “captivating” by The Strad magazine, to perform Mozart’s Fifth Violin Concerto. A staple of violinists’ repertoire, this colourful violin concerto – the last one Mozart composed for the instrument – was inspired by the exotic sounds of the Ottoman Empire, and features some of the most sublimely lyrical and energetically virtuosic examples of Mozart’s writing for the violin.

In the second half of the concert the full forces of Trinity Orchestra, conducted by their inspiring Music Director Michael Murray, will take to the stage to perform Bruckner’s famous unfinished Symphony No. 9 in D minor – a magnificent work full of intensely passionate and thrilling music. The composer died in 1896 before he was able to complete the final movement of the Symphony, heightening the poignancy of its beautiful, moving third movement, which the composer himself called his “Farewell to Life”.
