Platero: A Musical ride on a Mercurial Donkey
Spend a year in the sunshine of Southern Spain with a poet and
his constant companion, a little silver donkey called Platero.
Spain's best loved writer, the Nobel Prize winning Juan Ramon
Jimenez, lived in Moguer, a small whitewashed town near Seville
overlooking fields of vines and pomegranates at the beginning of
the twentieth century.
His best loved collection of stories paints an affectionate picture
of his hometown where you meet the characters and experience
the gentle pattern of their lives in the timeless Andalusian
landscape.
Mike Maran teams up with internationally renowned Georgian
director Levan Tsuladze and puppeteer Nino Namitcheishvili to
create a beautiful adaptation of these delightful stories which
are accompanied by a classical guitar score especially recorded
for this production by Craig Ogden.
"A joy to watch... this is storytelling at it's finest."
