The Reluctant Revolutionary, 2012, 70mins, English and Arabic

Joins us for a special screening of The Reluctant Revolutionary, followed by a Q&A with film director Sean McAllister on:

Wednesday, February 6th, 7.30pm

The Reluctant Revolutionary is an intimate portrait of Yemen as the revolution unfolds, told through the eyes of tour guide leader Kais, an intelligent commentator on the changing times in Yemen, offering poignant moments of reflection, loss, anger and hope on the unknown road to revolution. Filmed over the course of the past year we see Kais's journey from pro-President to reluctant revolutionary, joining angry protesters in the increasingly bloody streets of Sana'a.

Described by Cole Abaius, Film School Rejects as "a stunningly humane portrait that shows vividly what's at stake before leaving it bloody on the Formica floor of a battered concrete building."

After leaving school at 16 Sean worked in and out of factories before finding a camera and filming his way into the National Film School. He graduated in 1996. Since 1996 Sean McAllister has made films for both the BBC and Channel 4; working in the UK, Israel, Iraq, Japan, and most recently Syria, and The Yemen. In 2005 his film 'The Liberace Of Baghdad' (about Iraqi pianist Samir Peter) won the Special Jury Prize (World Documentary) at the Sundance Film Festival.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Sean McAllister.

Tickets: £5
