-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GREN BARTLEY is a prolific and exceptional songwriter. He is constantly touring and forever writing. The new album "Winter Fires" (out Spring 2013) is set to build further upon the success of 2012's critically acclaimed "Songs To Scythe Back The Overgrown".

"A quiet triumph, no less" - fRoots

Showcasing his "phenomenal" guitar playing and poetry driven lyrics, the new album also marks the first time Gren will be performing some of the tour with his band. This new line up reinforces Bartley's highly regarded musicianship and penchants for catchy melodies and absorbing narratives.

"If awe inspiring albums really are delivered through vivid dreams whilst slipping in and out of illness induced delirium, then I want what Gren Bartley had. "Songs To Scythe Back The Overgrown" is an album that will enhance his reputation, not only as a top guitar and banjo picker, but also as a wordsmith and fully fledged troubadour. He wields his serrated edge sound with surgical precision, cutting deep into your psyche and then seeing which nerves reach the heart strings, which ones operate the tear ducts and which ones just get the feet tapping. A game changing album." - FATEA Magazine

Gren is truly the future of folk songwriting, using his influences from folk and blues traditions to bring something unique to this modern day troubadour. He is an artist not to be missed.

Support from RORY BUTLER:

In the opening months of 2011 Rory recorded his debut album 'Naked Trees' just weeks before his 21st birthday. By the following year, Rory had gone to win the Danny Kyle award at Celtic Connections, opened for a sell out performance by Rachel Sermanni and shared the bill with Transatlantic Sessions on Mary Ann Kennedy's late night Radio 3 sessions. Since then Rory has continued to write and perform his songs, and has had the pleasure of supporting such artists as Michael Marra, Eliza Carthy, Sam Lee, Bella Hardy and Anais Mitchell in some of Scotland's major music venues. Rory's intricate and masterful guitar work and his compelling vocals are reminiscent of two of his biggest inspirations John Martyn and Nick Drake.
