CLEVELAND WATKISS AND THE HEADS AND FEET HOUSE BAND

A new all star band of international players brought together by two award winning musicians with the same idea-to play jazz grooves to move to. ”We both feel that the music we love moves the body as well as the soul. A gig is a conversation between the musicians and the audience,”says Heads And Feet saxophonist and composer Tim Whitehead, who was composer/artist in residence at Tate Britain in 2009 where he wrote and premiered “Colour Beginnings”, shortlisted for jazz album of the year 2011 and The British Composers Awards 2010.

Co -collaborator and London Jazz Awards “Best Jazz vocalist 2010” Cleveland Watkiss who has carved out a unique singing career,
and along the way worked with icons of modern music as diverse as Stevie Wonder, Wynton and Branford Marsalis, The Who,Maxi Priest , Kenny Wheeler, and Sugar Minot, says “Dance is the home of jazz, its where it all began”.

Keys player Jonathan Gee, a unique voice in UK music, says “the music has to have blues and swing”to make the mark. Collaborator in many projects with both Tim and Cleveland, he has appeared also with US musicians David Murray, Benny Golson, Art Farmer, Pharoah Saunders , Mark Murphy, Harry Allen, James Spaulding, Sonny Fortune and Ted Curson.

Winston Clifford has been the drummer of choice for an endless list of great players, from Courtney Pine through Julian Joseph Pete King and Bobby Watson to Carmen Lundy because he can be so creative while keeping the groove.

Bassist Neville “level Neville”Malcolm has ranged freely across the divides in music ,equally at home and relaxed with jazz fusion drummer icon Billy Cobham, jazz soul singer Marlena Shaw or legendary multi instrumentalist and Keith Jarrett Trio drummer Jack DeJonette.
