Nick Pynn & Daisy Grant
Saturday 22 June
Nick Pynn and Kate Daisy Grant bring their five-star, multi-award-winning music show to the George. Featuring Nick’s instrumental avant-folk masterpieces and Kate’s emotive, quirky pop songs played on an array of toy, folk and homemade instruments, the pair use live looping to create a two-person orchestra.
Nick Pynn can perform on violin, mandocello, steel string guitar, dulcimer, wine glasses and theremin. Regulars may remember his performance here with comedian Boothby Graffoe. Nick has also toured with B*Witched, Stewart Lee, Steve Harley and the Lost and Found Orchestra supporting the hit dance show Stomp
Hailed by Jon Ronson on BBC Radio 4 as ‘a wonderful new talent whose voice and lyrics penetrate the emotions straight away’ Brighton-based recording artist Kate Daisy Grant specialises in twisted pop lullabies and bittersweet fairy tales straight from "the junk shop of her heart".
‘Beautiful…compelling, intriguing and magical. The hour is over far too soon. These are truly two of the finest, creative and outstanding musicians around and this is a show definitely not to be missed.’ Edinburgh Spotlight *****
