Weald Choir- Eternal Light

The Weald Choir of Crawley, conducted by Michael Emery, will perform a concert in which the main work will be 'Eternal Light: A requiem' by Howard Goodall . This was first performed in 2008, the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One. The recording immediately topped the charts and earned Howard Goodall a Classical Brit award for Composer of the Year 2009. It is described by the composer as ‘a Requiem for the living’, written with the intention of providing solace to those who grieve , using the words of the Latin Mass and poems in English.
Our performance will be a version for harp, organ and piano, with organist Adrian Bawtree , pianist Andrew Saunders, and harpist Helen Arnold. Soloists will be Anya Szreter (soprano), Angharad Lewis (alto), Henry Moss (tenor) and Andrew Mayor (baritone). The programme will also include A Hymn to The Mother of God, by John Tavener; Five Spirituals from A Child of our Time by Michael Tippett,; and Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten.
Free parking is available in the school playground, off Collier Row, opposite the venue. Ticket price includes refreshments.
