FINI BEARMAN ‘GERSHWIN PROJECT – PORGY AND BESS REVISITED’ – ‘Leading jazz vocalist presents her interpretations from the canon of one of the last century’s most popular composers particularly the songs from his greatest opera ‘Porgy and Bess first performed on Broadway in 1935. This contemporary re-imagining of familiar material - think Robert Plant/Alison Krauss, Jimi Hendrix, Norah Jones, Esperanza Spalding… Blues, rock, jazz vibes - is a collaboration between Fini and guitarist, arranger, electronic musician and producer extraordinaire MATT CALVERT. Completing an impressive line-up are ROSS STANLEY organ/Rhodes electric keyboard, TOM FARMER double bass & JOHN BLEASE drums. “An irresistible voice… an expressive singer, and an intriguing composer and lyricist…” All About Jazz+ opening set from up and coming singer LILLI UNWIN currently studying at Trinity Laban.
